MS 聘了 RubyCLR 創造者

John Lam，RubyCLR 的作者，10/20號宣佈接受了 MS 的 Offer，InfoQ 在隔日報導。RubyCLR這個Project根據他們官方的解釋

A high-performance Ruby to .NET bridge that allows seamless integration of CLR and Ruby objects in the same Win32 process. Use it to create rich client applications using the Windows Forms or Windows Presentation Foundation libraries.

也就是說 RubyCLR 在地位上相當於 JRuby 的 .NET 版本。綜觀 Blog 作者上面的宣佈，關於他進入MS 的工作，他因為公司機密不允許明講

I know that some of you have questions, but I’m somewhat limited in what I can say about what comes next. I hope you can understand if my answers are somewhat evasive or vague.

不過僱用他大概是類似 RubyCLR 之類的工作，個人推測有可能因為MS不喜歡被開放原始碼 License ( MIT）限制住，可能不會走 SUN 的模式幫助 RubyCLR，而是採取獨立出一個新的 Ruby 跑在 CLR 上面的版本。也可能正因為如此，他正在找人接 RubyCLR 的工作。不過這個令人振奮的新聞對於 RubyCLR 不支援 mono 的問題，可能沒有任何幫助，短期內也應該不會有解決方案吧。

如果這個新聞跟之前的JRuby開發者被 Sun 延攬，JRuby 0.9.1 發佈，可怕的進步 的消息一對照，似乎可以看到『以後的 JVM 跟 .NET 應該都可以執行 Ruby 』這個趨勢，或許那天會 Ruby 的人也可以找到寫手機軟體的 Job 也說不定。我心中開始有點小小的激動了
