Apatana

Apatana 自從跟 RadRails 整合後，最新出的第一個整合版本終於出了，下載點在這裡。不過 JavaEye 上面的群眾哀鴻遍野，大家發現整合的版本好像還不是很好，畢竟是 First Beta 版本，有很多問題是必然的:p 想當初 Lighty 1.5 的前幾個 Beta 版本不知道讓我出現多少次 CPU 100 %的情況。所以還是建議，可以先玩玩 Apatana Rails ，但是如果牽涉到正事的話，還是先用 RadRails 好了。

Eclipse

Eclipse DLTK for Ruby 方便 Eclipse 使用者寫 Ruby，而道喜的技術日記也發表了一篇 Ruby语言开发工具：Eclipse官方开发Ruby语言Editor，裡面講解 Windows 下面如何使用 Eclipse 開發 Ruby 程式。

Aptana 跟 RadRails 整合時間表

自從 RadRails 跟 Aptana 整合之後，新的主控者 Aptana 出了一點小錯誤，DNS 指定好像出了點錯誤，一直連不上 RadRails 官方網站，要上 RadRails 請先用 http://www.aptana.com/radrails 這個 Link。言歸正傳，Aptana已經提出了整合的時間表，他們希望四月就出 Boundle Download，五月就會做出 RHTML 整合到 Aptana ，真是令人興奮。

RadRails 即將納入 Aptana 的控制下

RadRails 這個最早出現的 Open Source Rails IDE ，最近宣佈他們即將把控制權交給 Aptana 這個 Project。



Aptana 是一個 Eclipse Based 的 HTML，CSS，Javscript IDE，加入了 RadRails 也代表著除了 Aptana 原本強項的 HTML/CSS/JS編輯外，也一定會納入 Ruby on Rails 整合。


RadRails 官方早在幾天前就發表他們需要更多人手支援，並且他們不能夠再 Full Time OpenSource 下去了。也該是想想 RadRails 的未來怎麼走更好的時候了。

The bottom line to all of this is that Matt and I can't provide the same kind of commitment that we once could. Like or not, RadRails is not a business. We've been working our asses off on a startup for the past few months and RadRails has suffered as a result. I wish things were different and we could sit back and work on open source all day but that is just not the reality anymore.

幾天後，他們選擇面對問題的存在，閃電的宣佈兩者合併。

RadRails 雖然讓出了控制權，但是 RadRails 帶給我們的，卻是一連串的 Free Solution，包含 NetBeans，IntelliJ。

We've set a trend for Rails specific tooling that can now be seen in other IDEs such as Netbeans and IntelliJ. In many ways we've accomplished what we initially set out to do and 18 months later there is not just one Rails IDE, but close to a dozen free solutions.

不管如何，RadRails，Aptana 都是 Eclipse Base 的 IDE，也都是 EPL License，相互整合可說是沒有太多問題。Aptana 官方也馬上宣佈很快的就會有 Boundle 出現，並且 Aptana Team 的目標就是將兩者最初更加緊密的整合。

Initially, you’ll see some immediate bundling of the products, and then we’ll work on making a tighter integration as time goes on.

我對這件事情是抱持著相當正面的態度，Aptana 的 View 端 IDE 加上 RadRails 對於 Ruby on Rails 能力，相信可以做出相當不錯的 IDE Solution。

Windows 上面 IDE 的選擇

Robbin 又有新的力作了，這次是 Windows平台的ruby IDE 点评。這文章裡面對於 Windows 上面所有 IDE 做了一個評選，可惜少了 Ruby in Steel。對於不用 IDE 的我來說，這是我寫不出來的文章。

本文我會列出 Windows 上面各個流派 IDE 的 Ruby 選擇，並且會列出 Robbin 對於 IDE 的觀點給大家當個參考。

流派列表：

• Eclipse 派：RadRails
• NetBeans 派：Netbeans 6.0
• Visual Stdio 派：Ruby in Steel
• UltraEdit/ Editplus 派：你可以使用 RoRed ，修改設定的  UltraEdit，或是EditPlus Plugin

• ViM 派：rails.vim，這裡有教學
• Emacs 派：emacs-rails
• IDEA 派：IDEA Ruby Plugin

在 Robbin 的選擇

目前最推薦的 IDE 還是 RadRails，這個改自 Eclipse 的 IDE 贏在 Bug 少，功能齊全。缺點在於 RDT 過於差勁。不過最近 RDT 會出 0.9 ，希望能夠改進這方面的缺失。

NetBeans 是最受期待的 IDE ，最大的原因在於 SUN 對於 jRuby 的大力支援。Netbeans 6.0 提供了 Generic Language Support Framework，對於 Ruby and Ruby on Rails 支援不錯。雖然有些小問題，不過 2007年年底 Netbeans 會出 6.0 正式版，相信會對 Ruby 支援大大加強。

最受期待的輕量級 IDE 是 E 。這是一個 Windows 上面的 textmate 的 clone。喜歡 textmate 卻又不希望買 MAC 的人可以試試看這個。

Another Ruby IDE：InterlliJ Idea for Ruby Plugin launch

這年頭是怎樣，由於Java IDE 戰場已經趨於平穩，所以全世界的 Java IDE 廠商開始爭奪 Ruby on Rails 市場了嗎？

自從 SapphireSteel Software 出了 Ruby in Steel 幾天後，Java IDE 公司之一的 JetBrains對於他們旗艦產品 IntelliJ Idea 發表了一個官方的 Ruby Plugin，目標當然是目前最熱的 Ruby on Rails 開發，這裡有一些 ScreenShot。

DHH 也很識相的發表他感覺這對 Ruby 是一件好事，不過話語中似乎對 Java 帶了比酸黃瓜還要酸的酸味 XD

David Heinemeier Hansson, the creator of Ruby on Rails, greeted with enthusiasm Ruby's backing in IntelliJ.

"I think that's great news," Hansson said in an e-mail. "While I was doing Java, IntelliJ was the only thing that kept me from killing myself in frustration over the language. It still wasn't exactly happy programming, but IntelliJ helped mitigate some of the worst deficiencies of working in Java."

現在也有使用者發表使用心得了，看起來是不錯。

不对即使这样,我决定还是使用idea开发rails了,因为:

1.我平时工作中要用到java,我的IDE就是IDEA,使用习惯上一致了,不用再起个Eclipse了^^

2.IDEA的Ruby插件很完美的支持Code Reformat,这是别的编辑器做不到的

3.IDEA的Ruby插件语法检查比较出色.

4.对IDEA一贯的品质有信心,已经把java和jsp的ide做到那么出色,当然也可以把ruby的做好了,所以debug和auto complete功能的实现只是早晚的事

我本身是不用 IDE 啦，anyway，不管怎麼說，越多 IDE 加入代表這個市場會越來越壯大，絕對是一件好事。

Ruby in Steel Release

Ruby in Steel 是 SapphireSteel Software 為了 Ruby 還有 Rails 社群所開發的 Visual Stdio 2005 Add-on，也就是說這是一個擁有 Visual Stdio 2005 強大 IDE 能力的 Ruby and Ruby on Rails 開發工具。我想，隨著這個東西的出現，整個 Ruby on Rails IDE 拼圖已經差不多拼完了，「Ruby on Rails 欠缺良好 IDE」這個論點也已經沒有任何的強度了。

這裡有一連串 ScreenShot 可以看看他是長什麼樣子。價錢方面他有一個 limit time offer 大概是 199 美金，但是當然也有 免費的Personal Edition，只是功能上當然有所限制。這個東西的出現，就是要鎖定企業級 IDE 使用。

只要一個 Framework 有很多人用，什麼速度，效率，IDE，第三方 Lib 的問題，全部都是小問題，都會其他人幫忙被解決掉。

RadRails 0.7.2 Release

RadRails 0.7.2 在此下載 。雖然我不用 RadRails ，我用 vim ，不過我還是很歡迎 RadRails 的進步，至於 0.7.2 加了什麼，根據官方 Blog 說法

Mostly enhancements to the RHTML editor. Improved content assist that proposes closing tags. An outline view. A source formatter. Tab-expansion for templates.

而這些新增的功能，大家有興趣的人自己看看吧。

我還記得昨天有人跟我講『我覺得 Ruby on Rails 的致命傷是 IDE』，雖然我不認同有沒有 IDE 會造成致命的差距，但是有個良好的 IDE 畢竟是好事。目前最好的 Ruby on Rails IDE 應該就是 RadRails ，SUN 看起來也想利用 NetBeans 反攻 Ruby on Rails 市場，大頭們要怎麼打架，大家拉拉板凳看好戲吧，畢竟 IDE 有競爭才有進步。那個 M$ ，你不是已經抓了 RubyCLR 作者了，怎麼不見 Visual Stdio 上面可以跑 Ruby。

NetBeans 可以寫 Ruby 啦!!!

看來 SUN 是鐵了心要往 Ruby 衝 , 自從 Sun Hire JRuby 作者之後的效應漸漸出現了 , 現在 NetBeans 可以撰寫 Ruby 程式了 。根據前面這個網頁的說法 , NetBeans 上面編寫 Ruby 一共有 semantic highlighting , code completion, mark occurrences 這些功能。還記得上次 Tim Bary 說到 Rails 的 Dev Tool 偏弱 , 看來 SUN 要出手幫 Ruby 社群解決這個問題了 。
